Course Objectives: To develop an understanding of basic concepts, processes, techniques of psychotherapy used in treating various mental health disorder.

Course Outcomes:

1.       Describing various thoughts & school of psychology which led to development of various psychotherapeutic models.

2.       Demonstrating skills in-order to gain competence in developing an interpersonal relationship with clients and clinical supervisors.

3.       Appling clinical assessment techniques and implementing counseling interventions.

4.       Comparing and analyzing various counseling techniques.

5.       Evaluating students understanding of contemporary issues in counseling.

6.       Create a clinical intervention model

Unit I: Clinical Intervention Models- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Nature, General principles, Types, Process.

Unit II: transactional analysis: principle, techniques, assumption, limitation and application.

Unit III: Psychoeducation: models, relapse prevention, informative and emotional family support.

Unit IV: Clinical Intervention: pharmacology, electro-convulsive Therapy.

Unit V: Integrative or holistic therapy.
